Charming Hotels in Berlin
Personally run, with history, often owner-managed. For travelers who want character.
Charming hotels share one thing: they are not chains. Small hotels with history, often run by the same family for generations. Charlottenburg, Wilmersdorf and Steglitz-Zehlendorf have especially many of these.
What to watch for with charming hotels in Berlin
Charm is hard to measure but easy to bound: small hotels with their own signature, often family-run, frequently in period buildings with stucco, a courtyard or a garden. In Berlin such addresses sit mostly off the main axes - in the side streets of Prenzlauer Berg, Schöneberg and Charlottenburg.
Book here with lower expectations of standardization: reception is not always staffed at night, and sometimes there is no elevator at all. In exchange the rooms are rarely interchangeable and the staff know the neighborhood better than any app.
