Hotels in Mitte

Mitte is Berlin's historic and geographic heart. The Brandenburger Tor (Brandenburg Gate), the Museumsinsel (Museum Island), the Reichstag and the boulevard Unter den Linden all sit within a couple of square miles. Stay here and you can walk to most of what brought you to Berlin.

Staying in Mitte: location, transport, price level

Mitte has the highest hotel density in Berlin. From the five-star addresses on Pariser Platz to the chain properties at Alexanderplatz, everything is within walking distance. First-time visitors mainly save time here: the Brandenburger Tor, Museumsinsel, Unter den Linden and Gendarmenmarkt can all be covered on foot in a single day.

Transit is just as convenient. Hauptbahnhof (the main train station), Friedrichstraße and Alexanderplatz each bundle S-Bahn commuter rail, U-Bahn subway, regional and long-distance trains. The trade-off is price: during trade shows, the Berlinale film festival or state visits, rates climb fastest in Mitte. If your dates are flexible, book Sunday through Tuesday or move one district out.
